Tuart Hill, Perth,
Western Australia
(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Tuart Hill is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Stirling, and its post code is 6060.
Tuart Hill is named after the tuart trees (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) which once grew extensively throughout the area, especially around Dog Swamp. In 1914 the suburb name of Grenville was proposed, but not accepted.
An annual carnival called the Osborne Park Show is held in Robinson Reserve which is technically in Tuart Hill. Held early in December, its highlight is a fireworks display
Robinson Reserve and Grenville Reserve are both football ovals which also have cricket facilities. Grenville Reserve is neighboured by a privately owned tennis court and a soccer field owned by Tuart College.
Neighbouring Robinson Reserve is the Osborne Library and Community Centre despite it too being within the boundaries of Tuart Hill and not neighbouring suburb Osborne Park.
There are 2 primary schools. They are the public Tuart Hill Primary School, which was attended by Louise Sauvage, and the private St. Kierans Primary School. Servite College is the only high school in Tuart Hill. It is a private Catholic school. Tuart Hill High School once existed but due to low population it was closed and later became Tuart College. Tuart College offers a number of courses such as a Year 12 TEE Program for students wanting to enter tertiary education, adult learning classes, or English language courses.
